Special gram sabha meetings to be conducted in all 306 village panchayats tomorrow: Collector
DINDIGUL: District Election Office released draft electoral rolls and displayed copies of the rolls at all polling stations and post offices in 14 panchayat unions, coming under seven assembly segments, on Thursday.
Copies of draft electoral rolls were despatched to taluk offices in other parts of the district well in advance. Copies would be handed over to residential welfare associations and panchayat offices, officials said.
Special gram sabha meet
Collector S. Murugaia, in a release here, said special gram sabha meetings would be convened at all 306 village panchaayts in the district on January 29 in connection with draft electoral rolls.
List of names in the draft rolls would be read out in public at all gram sabha meetings.
Officials conducting gram sabha meetings should take responsibility for collecting applications for inclusion or deletion of names from the list.
Fresh voters aged 18 and above as on January 1, 2006 could submit their applications at special camps scheduled to be held on February 4 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at all polling stations and post offices.
Bulk applications would not be given under any circumstance.
Inclusion or deletion of names in the draft rolls would be received up to February 16, supplementary voter list would be released on February 24 and final list published on February 27.
