Applications and objections to be received between October 1 and 31

The draft electoral rolls released here on Monday ahead of the special summary revision to be taken up during this month has 21,21,637 voters in the district.

This includes 10,63,194 male voters, 10,58,533 female electorate and 10 transgender voters.

Based on 9,626 applications received between January 5, 2012 and September 15, 2012 during the supplementary revision, 5,623 new voters have been included in the photo electoral rolls released by Collector R. Selvaraj at the Collectorate on Monday.

The draft photo electoral roll will be displayed in the District Collectorate, offices of Revenue Divisional Officers, Tahsildars and all polling stations and hence the public can have a look at the draft electoral roll and make appropriate corrections, if any, by submitting applications before October 31, 2012.

Those who attain the age of 18 years on January 1, 2013 may submit Form 6 for including their names in the electoral rolls and for deletion of names, they will have to submit Form 7. For corrections, Form 8 should be submitted and for transfer of names within the constituency Form 8 A should be submitted. Non-resident Indians should submit Form 6 A for including their names in the electoral roll.

Applications and objections will be received between October 1 and 31. Special registration camps will be conducted on October 7, 14 and 21.

In neighbouring Tuticorin district, District Revenue Officer S. Amirtha Jothi released the draft electoral roll that contains 11,78,009 voters including 5,86,301 male, 5,91,707 female and one transgender voters.

Nagercoil

The District Collector, S. Nagarajan, released the draft electoral roll at a meeting held in the Collectorate on Monday.

According to the Collector, there were six Assembly constituencies including Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, Padmanabhapuram, Colachel, Killiyur and Vilavancode in the district. The total number of electorates in the district was 13,59,692 including 6,70,789 women voters. In Kanyakumari Assembly segment there were 2,51,577 voters including 1,24,457 women voters, in Nagercoil Assembly segment there were 2,30, 146 voters including 1,14,787 women, in Colachel Assembly segment there were 2,31,004 voters including 1,12,462 women, 2,09,437 voters in Padmanabhapuram Assembly segment including 1,02,228women, 2,16,369 voters including 1,08,105 women in Vilavancode taluk and 2,21,159 electorates including 1,08,750 women voters in Killiyur Assembly segment.

The draft electoral list would be put up in the offices of Revenue Division Officers, taluk offices, municipal offices and the respective election booths.

Those who were eligible ie after attaining the age limit of 18 years old and wanted to include his or her name in the electoral roll should make use of form number 7, form number 8 for rectification, 8 A for effecting change of address within the constituency, 6 A for NRIs and form number 001 C for obtaining the photocopy of the voters identity cards.

The District Revenue Officer, S. Palanisamy, Sub-Collector Shankar Lal Kumawath, RDO (Padmanabhapuram) Mohana Chandran and the representatives of various political parties attended the meeting.
