A short-listed draft electoral roll will be released on October 1, with the eligibility date as January 1, 2012. Final electoral roll will be released on January 5, 2012, according to Collector K. Nagarajan.
He was presiding over a special meeting in connection with the release of draft electoral roll here on Tuesday.
The draft roll will be displayed in respective polling stations in the district for public view.
Special camps will be conducted on October 9, 16 and 23 at various places in the district to receive application forms for inclusion, deletion of names and making necessary corrections in the electoral roll.
Last date for receipt of filled-in application forms was November 1, 2011.
The filled-in applications should contain all information, particularly date of birth, age and residential proof. If there was any change in residential address, the applicant should ensure that his name and previous address were not mentioned in any other electoral rolls.
Special provision has been made in forms 6, 7 and 8 to mention their mobile phone number. Those who submit their applications for inclusion of their names and want to make necessary corrections can mention their mobile number and e-mail IDs. Candidates in the age group of 18-24, should support their applications with college and school certificates that have birth date details, he added.
The Collector also appealed to officials and public to extend full cooperation in preparing an error-free photo electoral rolls. Revenue Divisional Officers, Tahsildars and other revenue officials participated.
