“A pro-bourgeois lobby is making sly attempts to annihilate DMK, since it is concerned about poor and downtrodden,” the DMK Chief and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has said.

Addressing an election meeting here on Friday in which he introduced the candidates of DMK alliance from Salem, Namakkal and Dharmapuri districts, Mr. Karunanidhi said that various methods such as ‘doctored poll surveys' orchestrated by a few forces were on to create an illusion among the voters that the DMK would be defeated in the polls. “Do not believe in those surveys and other prophesies. Just a single purohit cannot stop a marriage,” he said.

Salem District secretary and Sankagiri DMK candidate Veerapandi S. Arumugam presided.
