TAMBARAM: A fire broke out in the West Tambaram branch of Bank of India early on Wednesday. Though no one was hurt, property worth a few lakh rupees was destroyed.

The fire broke out at 3 a.m. On receiving information, firemen from the Tambaram control room rushed to the bank on Rajaji Road. With the help of a fire tender, they put out the flames.

However, office furniture, computers and documents were completely destroyed. Bank officials said cash was safe.

There was no cause for worry as all records were secure in their database in Chennai and Mumbai, they added.
