Collector V. Sampath has warned of police action against beneficiaries who send the milch animals and goats/sheep given by the State government free of cost to butchers.

In a statement here, the Collector noted that the government had launched the scheme for improving the livelihood of rural women. Beneficiaries had also given an undertaking that they would not dispose of the goats/sheep within two years and the milch animals within four years of their receipt.

However, it had come to the notice of the officials of Animal Husbandry Department that these animals were finding their way to the butchers’ shops. This was tantamount to violating the undertakings given by the beneficiaries.
