NAGAPATTINAM: The Nagapattinam unit of Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection Council has appealed to the Nagapattinam Municipality not to revise the property tax for the next five years stating that the town has now been recovering thanks to the tsunami rehabilitation works being carried out in the last three years.

Enhancement of property tax at this juncture will affect the tax payers.

The general body meeting of the council held under the chairmanship of R. Kaladharan, president of the council, recently, adopted a number of resolutions.

A resolution requested the district administration to take steps for constructing a building for the District Consumer Redressal Forum.

The council urged the municipal authorities to take steps to prevent the mosquito menace.

V. Sivanandam and R. Nagarajan, secretary and treasurer respectively explained the activities of the council.
