The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will not participate in the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, its president and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said on Thursday.

In a statement, he accused the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government of violating protocol by not printing the photograph of President Pranab Mukherji or Governor K. Rosaiah in the invitation.

Though the diamond jubilee function is to be held on November 30, the invitations to the President and the Governor were given only on November 27. Since the venue of the programme was the Assembly hall, only a few senior IAS officers were invited, he said.
