A DMK candidate, contesting in ward 7 of Salem Corporation poll, and his supporters were detained when they staged road blockade near Salem Central Prison alleging that AIADMK workers were indulging in the `cash-for-vote' campaign in his ward on Sunday.

The candidate Aruna Sundar and his men said that AIADMK workers had distributed money to voters in their ward for tomorrow polls to Salem Corporation Council. When the issue was taken to the notice of police, they failed to take any action, he said.

Later, he and his men staged road blockade near the prison. Senior police and revenue officials rushed to the spot and removed the protestors before taking them to the Asthampatti Police station for enquiry.
