The MDMK leader speaks at a public meeting in Ariyalur

ARIYALUR: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader M. Karunanidhi has sidelined veteran leaders and workers of the party for grooming his family members in the political arena, said Vaiko of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

Addressing a meeting here on Friday, he said many DMK workers had toiled for the party's growth for decades together. The ultimate aim of the DMK chief, he said, was to usher in dynastic rule in the State by some way or other.

Mr. Vaiko said free distribution of bicycles to all Plus-Two students had made the parents realise the care shown by the AIADMK government for the welfare of their children.

"The scheme has gone down well with the parents", he said.

He termed Mr. Karunanidhi's promise of providing rice at Rs. 2 a kg `thickest of the dupe.'

He alleged that the Centre did not sanction additional funds to the State at the time of crisis like tsunami in 2004 and floods in 2005 only at the intervention of the DMK leader.

The promise to supply free colour television sets was aimed at generating additional revenue for Mr. Karunanidhi's family through cable network, he said.
