Nagercoil: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres burnt the effigy of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yeddiyurappa in front of the Head Post Office here on Friday in protest against Karnataka’s opposition to the implementation of Hogenakkal drinking water project. Municipal councillor Arul Raj led the agitation.

Cares of Pattali Makkal Katchi also staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate urging the government to provide protection to Tamils in Karnataka. State deputy general secretary of the party Misha led the agitation. The party also organised an agitation in front of the Kuzhithurai taluk office. It was led by Hariharan, district secretary (west).
