Krishnagiri: The MDMK chief, Vaiko, on Thursday accused the DMK of having resorted to hike in price of ration rice under the Public Distribution System.
Speaking at a public meeting in Krishnagiri, Vaiko wondered how the DMK could provide rice at Rs. 2 a kg as it had pioneered the hike in ration rice price from Rs. 2 to Rs. 3.50.
Suspecting it to be a poll gimmick he said the DMK Government was responsible for denying family cards to 35 lakh card holders in the State.
He said the DMK-led coalition was gripped by panic over the recent announcement of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa to provide 10 kg of free rice a month to all eligible card holders in the State.
Lauding the AIADMK in enacting a law to streamline cable television network in the State, he accused the DMK chief of showing `extra attention' to thwart the Bill as it would deny a substantial income to a firm that belonged to his family.
He lauded the AIADMK government for implementation of the Farmers Security Scheme and the free cycle scheme which have received a good response from the farming community and students.
He said the AIADMK alliance would win in more than 200 constituencies in the elections. He later left for Dharmapuri.
