Says Union Minister D. Napoleon

Tuticorin: “We take deep pride in our stake and DMK government led by Chief Minister is concerned with people’s well being,” said D. Napoleon, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment.

Mr. Napoleon continued his campaign for the second consecutive day on Wednesday in favour of the DMK candidate, Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, contesting the by-poll to the Tiruchendur constituency.

He appealed to the electors to make use of the opportunity for bringing all-round development to Tiruchendur constituency. Taking a dig at Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK General Secretary, he asked why should the AIADMK contest in the by-polls in Tiruchendur and Vandavasi now? The party had boycotted the previous by-poll in all the five constituencies citing the reason that electronic voting machines could be tampered with. But now, the people should boycott AIADMK and defeat them with the same vigour.

The cadres of AIADMK were getting demoralized due to its failure in elections held recently and it was to safeguard their interest that the party was contesting the by-poll now, he said. , Mr. Napoleon said.

Criticising the politics of DMDK, he said the party came into existence only in 2005 with no principles whereas DMK, a party following the Dravidian principles and ideologies of Arignar Anna, was established way back in 1949. The Chief Minister had contested in twelve elections so far, he added. He also said that the DMDK could only indulge in depreciating the achievements and contributions of DMK.

He was accompanied by Minister for Education Thangam Thennarasu, Minister for Backward Classes K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran and N. Periyasami, district secretary, DMK. The campaign commenced at Arumuganeri and proceeded through Kayapattinam, Veerapandipattinam, Tiruchendur and other places.
