Comprising all five Assembly segments in the district
PUDUKOTTAI: The Pudukottai district wing of the Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) has urged the Delimitation Commission to carve out the Pudukottai Parliamentary constituency, comprising all the five Assembly segments, Pudukottai, Alankudi, Aranthangi, Tirumayam and Kolathur (R), of the district.
A resolution adopted at the district meeting of the party, held here on Sunday, said that all the Assembly segments in the district should be clubbed together to form the Pudukottai Parliamentary constituency for ensuring proper representation in the Parliament for the district's electorate and also prompt redressal of the people's grievances.
It expressed its protest against the proposed creation of the Sivaganga Parliamentary constituency by merging the Alankudi, Aranthangi and Tirumayam Assembly segments of the district.
Another resolution urged the district administration to distribute pattas to the residents of Bose Nagar and Nizam Colony in the town.
The meeting, through a resolution, urged the Pudukottai Municipality to take immediate action for implementing the underground drainage scheme in the town.
Resolutions pleading for additional gynaecologists and para-medical personnel at the Raniar Government Maternity Hospital, introduction of bus services on the Karaikudi - Villupuram sector and Alankudi - Madurai sector were also adopted at the meeting.
The district secretary of the party, N. Jahir, addressed the participants.
