MADURAI: Over 38,000 persons have been photographed in the district for smart cards under the Chief Minister’s insurance scheme for life saving treatments.
Addressing a grievance day meeting at Vagurani village in Usilampatti taluk on Wednesday, Collector N. Mathivanan said that so far 21,550 persons in Melur taluk and 16,814 in Vadipatti taluk had been photographed for smart cards. The government had allocated Rs. 4.44 crore under the social security scheme for farmers and farm workers in the district. Of this, Rs. 65.35 lakh would be spent in Usilampatti taluk.
