A total of 3.93 lakh ration cardholders will benefit
As many as 3.93 lakh ration cardholders will get Pongal gift pack containing a kg of rice, a kg of sugar and Rs. 100 cash in Dharmapuri district, said Collector R. Lilly here on Thursday.
At a function to launch the distribution of gift packs to beneficiaries at the ration shop run by the Adhiyamaan Kottai Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society, she said that out of the 3,96,528 cards - including those for police personnel and families getting sugar - the 3,92,593 cardholders getting rice are eligible to get the gift pack announced by the government.
The gift packs would be distributed before Pongal through 969 ration shops run by the co-operative sector and 38 shops run by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) across the State till Sunday (Janaury 13).
She also thanked the Chief Minister for her gesture of announcing SIPCOT industrial estates at Harur and Pennagaram and two new taluks and two panchayat unions, at the Collectors’ meeting held in Chennai last month. P. Ramar, District Revenue Officer; N. Nanjappan, Pennagaram M.L.A.; S. Ramadoss, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies; and T.R. Anbazhagan, Chairman, District Panchayat, among others, participated.
