VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam candidate for the Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency, K. Pandia Rajan, has sought disqualification of Congress candidate B. Manik Tagore for alleged distribution of money to voters in the constituency.

Addressing an election rally here on Sunday, he said that his partymen had caught red-handed Congress cadres distributing money in as many as 10 places. “We have given to officials enough evidence to ban the Congress candidate from contesting the election,” he said.

Claiming that he expected violence in the constituency in the run-up to the polls, he warned the Congress of a backlash from his partymen if it continued with its illegal ways.

Mr. Rajan criticised the alliances of both the Dravidian parties dubbing them unprincipled. “How can a party (Congress) that had dismissed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government twice, ally with it,” he said.

Similarly, he found fault with the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for seeking the support of Jayalalithaa after having abused her in the past.

“The real cadres of the DMK and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would not vote for the alliance parties,” he said.
