Officials of various departments should coordinate their efforts to prevent loss of life and livestock, damage to property during natural disasters, Principal Secretary to government and Monitoring Officer for Disaster Prevention and Relief Apurva Verma told officials here on Friday.

Reviewing the preparedness of district officials and departments to overcome damage caused by monsoon and floods, Mr.Verma cautioned officials of the Revenue, Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Public Works Department and the Education Department to work in tandem to avoid loss of life and property.

“Areas that were breached during the previous monsoon or floods should be strengthened and fortified,” he said adding that additional relief materials must be kept ready to rush to vulnerable locations.

The role of the village administrative officers was pivotal , Mr.Verma added.
