PUDUKOTTAI: The various safety aspects in the government and private schools was discussed during the day long training programme on disaster management organised by the Directorate of School Education for the benefit of the teachers at the Raaniyar Government Girls Higher Secondary School here on Thursday.

Chief Educational Officer S. Chellam inaugurated the training programme, in which experts from different fields explained the safety aspects to the 110 teacher participants.

Head of the Department of Education of the Alagappa University, P. Prema, Snehal, Doctor, Government Headquarters Hospital, and Nandagopal, Divisional Fire Officer, Fire and Rescue Services Department, imparted training on various safety aspects to the adopted during the times of disasters. Dr. Prema explained the various initiatives to be taken by the teachers with due presence of mind for saving the students during emergencies and the precautionary measures to be taken for preventing such incidents.

Dr. Snehal explained the first aid to be administered to the injured students during fire accident, student violence, sudden attack, explosion, building collapse, etc.

Mr. Nandagopal explained the reasons for fire accidents, instant steps to be taken to put out fire, etc. He also demonstrated how to use fire extinguishers. The participants were explained about the safety aspects available in the schools at present, the safety related incidents experienced in schools, more facilities needed for ensuring fool proof safety in the school premises were discussed in detail.

District Educational Officer M. Madevan Pillai, the headmasters of the Government HSS, Gandhinagar, R. Paramasivam, Raaniyar HSS, R. Bose, and others spoke.
