Officials told to prepare an action plan

The government has taken steps to prepare a disaster management plan and implement it in each district as a mitigation measure, said M.S.Shanmugham, Collector, here on Tuesday.

He held discussions with officials regarding preparation of the Disaster Management Plan for Thanjavur district.

He said that department officials should compile the list of disasters that might have occurred in their respective areas and prepare a plan to face any eventuality and relieve people in case of an eventual disaster.

The plan would help government agencies in being prepared for any contingency, he said.

Awareness

Adequate awareness about disaster management should be created among people and officials, he said.

C.Suresh Kumar, District Revenue Officer, Devadoss, Senior Regional Manager of Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC), A.Meyyalagan, PA to Collector (general), S.Muthulakshmi, Revenue Divisional Officer, Thanjavur, Ashok Kumar, Revenue Divisional Officer, Kumbakonam, and Balakrishnan, Revenue Divisional Officer, Pattukottai, participated in the meeting.
