With a camp being organised at the taluk office here on Thursday, the process of identifying eligible differently-abled persons in Udhagamandalam block for financial assistance under the Indira Gandhi National Differently Abled Welfare Scheme was set in motion.

A team of government doctors, including an eye specialist and an orthopaedic, screened men, women and children who had been brought from various parts of the hill station.

According to the Nilgiris Collector, Archana Patnaik, such camps would be held at the community hall in Devala on January 27, at the Cantonment School in Wellington on February 10 and the NCMS Hall in Kotagiri on February 24.

She added that those attending the camps should bring with them copies of their ration cards and other relevant records along with four passport size photographs.
