Soundiah visits rural libraries

TIRUCHI: Collector T. Soundiah on Wednesday inspected the development works in various parts of Manikandam and Anthanallur panchayat unions.

The Collector inspected the works on the digging of water tank on an outlay of Rs. 5 lakh in Alunthur panchayat in Manikandam union, construction of overhead water tank in Ariyavur panchayat (Rs. 4.5 lakh), laying of Mattaparaipatti tar road (Rs. 26 lakh), and Kallikkudi tar road (Rs. 34.70 lakh), both executed under the Bharat Nirman Project II.

The Collector directed the officials to complete all the ongoing development works in time.

Later, Mr. Soundiah visited the rural libraries in Puliyur, Mullikaruppur, Pazhur and Perur panchayats where rural competitions are under way.

He made enquiries with the panchayat presidents on the response for the competitions from the students and the local people.

Collector paid a surprise visit to the fair price shops in Puliyur and Pazhur panchayats and verified the stock of rice, wheat, sugar, dhal and also made enquiries with the consumers on the quality of essential commodities.

J. Dhanasekaran, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, and other officials accompanied the Collector.
