THANJAVUR: The 39th anniversary of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Nursery School here was held recently.

Correspondent of Rudraveni Muthusamy Polytechnic College K. Chinnasamy was the chief guest.

He underlined the importance of providing quality education to the younger generation.

He called upon students to develop self-confidence and shun inhibitions in order to build a bright career. School correspondent V. Chandrasekaran presided over the function. Treasurer V. Vignesh offered felicitations.

Students staged two plays — Karmayogi in Sanskrit and You can if you think you can in English. They also enacted the life of Kannagi.

Former chairman of Thanjavur Municipality G. Sulthan Mohideen and a large number of parents participated in the function.

Prizes were distributed to academic toppers and participants of the plays.

Festival held

Under the auspices of Sarva Siksha Abiyan, the Village Education Committee festival was held at Municipal High School, Rajagopalapuram, Pudukottai town, recently.

President of the Parent-Teachers Association V. Gunaseelan presided over the meeting and explained the policies and objectives of setting up the committee.

Former teacher and State government awardee Sathiayamoorthy and teacher Roselin Irudayarani delivered the key note address. Headmaster N. Sellamuthu and teacher R. Ganesan offered felicitations. A large number of parents participated in the meeting.


The Village Education Committee was inaugurated at Government High School, Pudukottai town. Vice-chairman of Pudukottai Municipality K. Naina Mohamed presided over the function.

Parent-Teachers’ Association president M.C. Muthu, headmaster V. Radhakrishnan and teachers M. Vijayalakshmi, P. Kamakshi, D. Vasuki and Santhi spoke on activity-based learning methods and their benefits.
