“Sound knowledge of English imperative in the present-day scenario”

PUDUKOTTAI: Students must develop their communication skill for career progression, said R. T. Sabapathy Mohan, Vice-Chancellor, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tiruneveli. Delivering the convocation address at H. H. The Rajah’s College here on Friday, Dr. Mohan said that a sound knowledge of English had become imperative in the present-day scenario where students were being exposed to global competitions.

Many students, despite their academic brilliance, lagged behind when it came to career progression due to lack of proficiency in English language. Dr. Mohan appealed to the students to shun inhibitions while developing communication skills.

M. Chidambaranathan, Principal, spoke on activities of Youth Red Cross, the Red Ribbon Club, and NSS volunteers in peripheral villages.

In all, 632 students, including 516 boys, received degree certificates. Controller of Examinations M. Veerappan, was present.
