A section of employees in Ashok Leyland staged a demonstration in front of its Unit No. 2 on Thursday demanding that the management should conduct elections to the union as the previous union’s term reportedly ended on August 30, 2012. Two members of Thanigaivel Welfare Association and ATC began a hunger strike on Wednesday. Later, they reportedly called off the strike and staged a demonstration along with other supporters demanding elections for the union.
