The students of the Pavendar Bharathidasan Polytechnic College, Mathur, near here gained first hand experience on the functioning of the 108 ambulance service during a demonstration held on the college premises recently.

The programme was organised by the NSS unit of the college. The medical team of the 108 ambulance service explained the facilities available in the ambulance for treating patients in case of an emergency.

The officials said the ambulance was serving even the people of remote and tribal villages throughout the week .

The medical team also explained how timely action taken by the service helped in saving many valuable lives.

The team urged the students to create awareness among the rural masses on the importance of the 108 ambulance service. V. K. Raman, principal of the polytechnic college, presided over the programme.
