Udhagamandalam: A two-day visit of the Defence Secretary, Shekhar Dutt, to the Defence Services Staff College (DSCC) at Wellington near here concluded on Wednesday.

An IAS officer of the 1969 batch and an ex-army officer who was given the Sena Medal for gallantry during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Mr. Dutt addressed the officers of the DSSC. He emphasised the need for a strong and well-equipped military. Efforts should be made to accelerate the economic development of the country.

He also called on the ailing Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw at the Military Hospital at Wellington.
