MADURAI: The Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi, has asked universities/institutions to obtain post-facto approval for offering programmes through distance education mode.

A press release from DEC, which functions under the auspices of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, on Thursday said in July last the council had created the provision for post-facto approval to universities and institutions offering distance education courses.

The same is applicable for University of Madras which was given recognition by DEC for the programmes offered by it through distance mode for academic year 2007-08 and now all universities need to apply for further approval, K.
