Dharmapuri: Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal has instructed fertilizer and seed dealers in the district to distribute fertilizers, pesticides and seeds at appropriate time in right quantities to farmers.
Speaking at a review meeting here on Friday, the Collector said that arrangements had been made to ensure adequate stock of fertilizers and pesticides at wholesale and retail stores in the district.
Dharmapuri district had received 211 mm of rainfall so far as against the normal rainfall of 332.5 mm. Agricultural activities had commenced in the district thanks to the recent showers. The district administration will provide subsidy to small and marginal farmers to buy tractors, power tillers and other agricultural implements. The Collector directed the officials to display the list of beneficiaries selected under various subsidy schemes in the concerned panchayats.
The district administration will provide subsidy to farmers for replacement of old and worn out agriculture pump sets. About 10 deep borewells had been sunk in lands identified under the 2-acre land scheme as against the target of 16 borewells.
Mr. Bansal directed the officials concerned to display the nature of works being carried out under the Drought-Prone Area Programme.
Efforts had been taken to distribute agriculture implements, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides worth Rs. 4.39 lakh under the Integrated Tribal Development Programme to 423 beneficiaries. Development works to the tune of Rs. 6.12 crore were underway under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM) in Dharmapuri district in the current fiscal, he said. The Collector instructed the officials of Animal Husbandry Department to conduct special veterinary camps in 106 villages selected under the Anaithu Gramam Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT) in the current year.
The district administration would plant over four lakhs saplings in Sitheri tribal hamlet to increase green cover. Crop loans to the tune of Rs. 15 crore would be disbursed to farmers in the current year.
