The mystery surrounding the detection of a dead body in an abandoned car near the bus stand in Kaveripakkam on July 20 was unravelled with the arrest of three persons including a woman by the Kaveripakkam police on Sunday.

According to sources in the Kaveripakkam police station, Kanaka (30) of 66 Pudur Village in Katpadi taluk was arrested on Sunday in connection with the detection of the dead body.

She had stated to the police that she was living alone following her estrangement with her husband. She was in love with A. Murugan (25) of Vishar in Kancheepuram district, working as a call taxi driver in Chennai.

When Murugan came to her house on the night of July 19, he informed her that his parents were arranging his marriage to another girl. She picked up a quarrel and threatened to commit suicide if he married any other girl.

When Kanaka woke up on the morning next day, she found Murugan hanging from the ceiling in a room. Pretending that Murugan was ill, she sought the help of G. Raja (23) and R. Manikandan (21) of the same village to take Murugan to a hospital. When all the three along with Murugan’s body were proceeding in Murugan’s car, the vehicle driven by Raja suddenly broke down.

Raja and Manikandan left. Kanaka too abandoned the car and the body and escaped. On information provided by Kanaka, the police arrested Raja and Manikandan.
