No water at stinky toilet block; concrete roof needs immediate repair No water at stinky toilet block; Concrete roof need immediate repair
TIRUPUR: There is no end to the sufferings of the nearly 80 Dalit students who are staying at the Government Boys Hostel at Lakshinaicken Palayam, 20 km from Palladam, run by the Adi Dravida Welfare Department.
The roof of the concrete building is in a precarious condition and walls have not been painted for years. The electrical wiring needs an urgent care and the entire hostel building is in a dire need of renovation.
The students complain that water supply to the toilet remained disconnected for several months as the bathroom fittings got damaged. The stinky toilet block does not have water supply. The broken floors need immediate repair.
Poor students from far away places like Valparai and Udumalpet are staying here with a hope of scoring high marks as the SRNV Higher Secondary School in which they are studying has a record of cent per cent result in SSLC and Plus Two examinations. Despite all the odds, all students of the hostel who appeared for the board examinations for the last couple of years have successfully passed out.
The students complain that their repeated pleas for basic amenities failed to evoke fruitful result from the authorities.
