TASMAC shop burgled
A liquor outlet of TASMAC in Seven Wells area was burgled in the early hours of Thursday and the suspects decamped with more than Rs.2.30 lakh cash.
Seven Wells police said the burglary occurred at the outlet on Vallalar Nagar after it was closed on Wednesday night. The incident came to light when its staff came next day morning and opened the shop. The culprits had gained access into the outlet after making a hole in the wall on the side of the building, police added.
Two unidentified men on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from a septuagenarian in K.K. Nagar on Thursday evening. Police said the incident took place when Saroja (72) of 85th Street, K.K. Nagar, was walking to the temple in the area. When she reached the 80th Street the duo on a motorcycle wearing helmets rode close to her, snatched her six sovereign chainand sped, sources added.
Choolaimedu police on Thursday arrested a man, who married again. Police sources said Paramasivam (31) of Bhajanai Koil Street, Choolaimedu, who runs a grocery store in Arumbakkam, had befriended a woman near his shop and married her recently.
Paramasivam's first wife Madhavaselvi (26) had come to know about the marriage a few days ago and lodged a complaint with the Choolaimedu police. Investigations revealed that Paramasivam had illegally married the second time and he was arrested on Thursday, sources added.
Ganja seller held
A 43-year-old ganja seller was arrested by the Thiruvanmiyur police on Thursday night. Police said Ravi of Nanganallur who was selling the contraband inside the Thiruvanmiyur police limits was caught red-handed in Valmiki Nagar. Ganja weighing 60 gms and Rs.1,770 cash were seized from him.
Man's body found
The body of a man, believed to be in his 60's, was found on the beach in Srinivasapuram, Pattinapakkam on Thursday afternoon. Pattinapakkam police said the body was found by some residents of the area who informed the police. The body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital. The identity of the dead man is yet to be ascertained, police added.
