Tension prevailed at Madambakkam village near Guduvanchery on Thursday morning after the local people found an old man dragging a school girl towards a hut on Kuthanur Main Road.

Enquiries reveal that some pedestrians saw the old man, running an astrology-cum-palmistry centre in a hut on Kuthanur Main Road in Madambakkam, dragging the 11-year-old girl.

He was found drunk. When they enquired about her condition, the astrologer, Thirunavukkarasu (65) of Pozhichalur on the southern outskirts of Chennai, gave contradictory replies.
