An Indian Navy vessel, which was stranded off Kanyakumari coast, proceeded on its journey towards Vizag on Saturday after the snag was set right by a technical team from Kochi.
According to police sources, the ship stopped at 30 nautical miles off Kanyakumari coast on Thursday, while going from Kochi to Vizag.
Even before rescue teams from Kochi could reach the spot, fishermen in two boats tried to evacuate 11 sailors on board the stranded ship.
As the sea was rough, they could not succeed in their attempt.
The marine police were alerted by Kanyakumari fishermen, who, in turn, spoke to the Indian Coast Guard Station at Tuticorin.
Information about the stranded ship was passed on to Kochi by the Indian Coast Guard.
