At Ponnamaravathy near Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI: The Ponnamaravathy and Tirumayam unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has urged the State Government to sanction a sub-treasury office for Ponnamaravathy to cater to the needs of those remitting money into government account.

A resolution adopted to this effect at its meeting held at Ponnamaravathy near here recently referred to the urgent need for starting the sub-treasury office. With the bifurcation of Tirumayam taluk, carving out a new taluk with Ponnamaravathy as headquarters, an exclusive Sub-Treasury office has become indispensable.

Another resolution wanted starting of the Centrally-sanctioned Science and Arts College to be started at Ponnamaravathy to cater to the higher educational needs of the youths.

The meeting, through a resolution, wanted house-site ‘patta' to be sanctioned to those residing for more than three decades in Indira Nagar in Kadaiyakudi village panchayat near Ponnamaravathy.

M. Doss, Taluk organiser of All India Youth Federation, presided over the meeting. A. L. Raj, Taluk secretary of the party and V. Singamuthu, District Treasurer were among those who spoke.

Addressing presspersons later, Mr. Raj urged the officials to take action for the construction of toilet for women at the bus stand in Ponnamaravathy.
