Tirupur: Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a demonstration in front of the Corporation office here on Tuesday alleging that the police arrested some innocent persons in connection with the violence that took place during Vinayaka Chathriti celebrations on August 25.

The party men pointed out that one of their functionaries, who was leading a dignified political life, was arrested by the police without proper investigation.

MLA C, Govindasamy was among the senior leaders, who addressed the agitators.
