CHENNAI: The Communist Party of India (CPI), which is part of the AIADMK alliance, has been allotted North Chennai, Nagapattinam (reserved), and Tenkasi (reserved) constituencies.

The list was finalised after AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Sunday held discussions with her alliance partners at her Poes Garden residence.

The meeting was attended by MDMK general secretary Vaiko, CPI(M) State secretary N.Varadarajan, CPI state secretary D.Pandian and other leaders of these parties who are members of the seat-sharing committees.

Emerging out of the meeting, Mr Pandian told reporters that he was happy with the outcome.

In the 2004 elections, the party won the Coimbatore and Tenkasi constituencies. However, the talks with the CPI(M) and MDMK remained inconclusive. Mr.Vaiko and Mr.Varadarajan said the talks will continue on Monday.
