Cadre of Communist Party of India (CPI) paid floral tributes to late leader Jeeva on his 50th death anniversary in the city.

At Edamalaipattiputhur, partymen led by Saravanan, branch secretary of the party, garlanded the portrait of Jeeva. K. Suresh, city secretary, Dravidamani, deputy secretary and others who were present paid glowing tributes to the late leader. They said that Jeeva took active participation in the freedom struggle and self respect movement. He organised many struggles for the uplift of the poor and played a key role in launching the party in the State.

As a MLA, he raised in the State Assembly the issue of making Tamil as the medium of instruction in the State. He was the founder of the party organ ‘Janasakthi’. The partymen also garlanded the portraits of Jeeva at Puthur, Woraiyur and in all the corporation wards in the city.
