The Kulithalai Sub Court ordered attachment of two TNSTC buses for non-payment of compensation to accident victims in separate cases on Tuesday.

In the first instance, the kin of M. Sankar of Lalapet near here and who was killed in a road accident on October 22, 2006, had claimed that the TNSTC had failed to comply with the court order granting them compensation of Rs. 3.36 lakh that was ordered on October 10, 2011.

Compensation enhanced

The court enhanced the compensation to Rs. 4.11 lakh by adding interest to the compensation but still the TNSTC did not comply with the order.

In the second case, S. Kesavan of Thiruverambur, Tiruchi district, had suffered injuries in a road accident involving a TNSTC bus in 2009.

He had moved court seeking suitable compensation and the sub-court here had granted Rs. 1.80 lakh on November 2012.

But that too the TNSTC failed to compensate inviting action by the aggrieved party, following which the court compounded the compensation by adding interest to tally Rs. 2.37 lakh.

As the TNSTC failed to comply with court orders, the Kulithalai sub-judge Ayyappan Pillai ordered attachment of two buses consequent of which court officials and claim parties seized two TNSTC buses that came to Kulithalai from Musiri and took them to the court.

After the officials pleaded for sometime to disburse the compensation, the buses were released.
