CHENNAI: PMK founder S. Ramadoss commended the Madras High Court for upholding the interests of social justice in directing the Union Census Department to take a caste-wise census, saying that this had historical significance.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr. Ramadoss said the PMK had stressed the need for a caste-wise census for a long time to ensure that the benefits of reservations were realised fully.

This issue was discussed during all his meetings with the Prime Minister, said Dr. Ramadoss.

The PMK also conducted a conference in Delhi recently where leaders of political parties interested in social justice and reservation spoke and stressed the need for caste-wise census, he said.
