Discussions regarding counting tables, barricades, security arrangements held
Collector J. Chandrakumar and Salem SP Y. John Nicholson inspected the Government Engineering College, Karuppur, the counting centre for four assembly segments here on Thursday.
The senior officials accompanied by a team of revenue and police officers went around the college and discussed arrangements to be made for counting votes polled in four assembly segments of Salem West, Salem North, Salem South and Omalur in the forthcoming elections.
The Collector asked the police to make fool proof security arrangements. He also wanted strong room ready to keep the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) after the polling.
The officials also discussed in detail about counting tables and barricades that needed to be erected inside and around the college campus.
Officials including District Revenue Officer S. Palanisamy, Salem RDO Prasanna Ramasamy, Mettur RDO P. Velu, Deputy Collector (Social Defence) C. Rajasekar, Omalur DSP S. M. Subramaniam and others took part in the inspection.
Later, he also inspected The Kavery Engineering College at Mecheri where the counting for Mettur assembly segment would be taken up.
