The government will set up one counselling centre in each district and three in Chennai to help adolescents.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has sanctioned Rs 2.51 crore for the 34 counselling centres, stated an official release.

In another announcement, she allocated Rs. 10 crore for the Government Dental College, Chennai, for new buildings and purchase of sophisticated equipment to make it a premier institution. She also ordered increase in the number of PG seats in the college from 35 to 58 and creation of 33 faculty posts and three non-teaching posts.

For the Government Siddha Medical College at Palayamkottai, she sanctioned Rs. 5 crore for a new three-storey building.

About Rs 6.55 crore has been sanctioned to provide drinking water facility for the Tirunelveli Medical College directly from the Tamiraparani river as the wells had dried up and the water supplied by corporation was inadequate.

For Stanley Medical College, Rs. 1.90 crore has been allotted for renovating the auditorium.
