Seek permission to move no trust motion

ERODE: Eleven councillors of the Surampatty Grade III Municipality have submitted a memorandum to the Regional Director of Municipal Administration (RDMA), Tirupur, against the Surampatty Municipal Chairman Loganathan (DMK) stating that he was acting against rules and a lot of malpractices were taking place in the municipal area.

On Friday, the Surampatty municipal council meeting was conducted in which the AIADMK, MDMK and also the DMDK councillors alleged that a few DMK persons collected more than 500 load of red soil from the garbage yard at Kavundichipalayam with the support of the Chairman.

Soil collection

They said the garbage yard was purchased during the AIADMK regime. They alleged that the ground was dug up to a depth of 20 feet to collect soil, forming a huge pit.

As the yard had become unfit for use, the garbage was now being deposited on the burial ground here.

With heaps of garbage getting accumulated, a foul smell emanated in the area affecting people.

Special meeting

Later, the councillors went to Tirupur and handed over a complaint against the Chairman with the officials in the office of the RDMA.

The officials said that the complaint would be given marked to the RDMA on October 3. The councillors wanted the RDMK to permit them to move a no trust motion against the Chairman.

They appealed to the RDMA to conduct a special meeting of the municipality for the purpose.
