The Corporation council meeting held on Thursday witnessed a sit-in protest by Ward 28 Councillor C. Rangasamy (CPI) in the well of the house against the lethargic attitude of the administration when it comes to taking up development works in his ward.

Mr. Rangasamy said that he would sit on the floor in the council meetings till his repeated requests, made during the past many council meetings, on the need for improving drinking water supply and sanitation issues were addressed.

Mr. Rangasamy gave up the agitation after Mayor A. Visalakshi told him that she would visit his ward on Friday to study the problems and take remedial steps.

Another CPI Councillor S. Ravichandran pointed out that anti-mosquito control measures were inadequate across the city.
