ERODE: A senior Independent woman councillor has raised her objection to the collection of funds from the public for the proposed Underground Drainage (UGD) scheme at the Municipal Council meeting held here on Friday.
At the meeting presided over by Chairman M. Subramanian, the issue was placed before the council seeking permission for the municipal administration to collect funds as deposit from the public.
The resolution stated that the UGD scheme would be introduced at a cost of Rs. 38 crores with subsidy from the State Government, Municipal fund and deposit from the public. The council passed the resolution.
But, Radhamani Bharathi (Ind) opposed the move and said no fund should be collected from the public. Another woman councillor, Geetha Kadirvel (DMK) said the pits dug on the SKC Road should be closed.
