A special team of police arrested Rajapandian, belonging to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, in Chennai. Rajapandian had asked K. Thangaraj (46) of Kamaraj Salai to come to the Corporation zonal office on March 29. He demanded a bribe money of Rs. 1 lakh from Thangaraj for getting a building plan approved. However, Thangaraj, who had already given him Rs. 35,000 for the same, refused to give him more.

An enraged Rajapandian, along with his associates, assaulted Thangaraj and his relative Suresh Kumar. The Teppakulam police had registered a complaint.

Meanwhile, the Teppakulam police on Wednesday registered another case against Rajapandian on charges of cheating ‘pani poori’ seller K. Ilankumaran (53) of Rs. 1 lakh.

In his complaint, Ilankumaran of Mahal 7th Street said that he had sought Rajapandian’s help for getting Corporation permission to set up a roadside shop. Rajapandian had reportedly received Rs. 1 lakh for the same. However, Rajapandian neither fulfilled his promise nor returned the money in the past eight months .
