Coimbatore Corporation has lodged a dozen complaints against persons who have encroached upon reserve sites, said Commissioner G. Latha.

The Corporation lodged the complaints around three weeks ago with the anti-land grab cell of the Coimbatore Rural Police.

It had said that the 12 persons had encroached upon the civic body’s land in VNR Nagar in Ward 16. They had also developed plots and sold the same to a few unknown persons. The total encroached land measured 17,705 sq.ft.

The police sought a few clarifications and after getting the same they had registered cases. This was part of the Corporation’s efforts to protect reserve sites, she added.
