Regular monthly meeting could not be convened since model code of conduct came into force
CHENNAI: After a gap of three months, the Council of Chennai Corporation will meet on Thursday.
The regular monthly meeting could not be convened since the model code of conduct for elections came into force on March 2.
Several resolutions, including those pertaining to construction of stormwater drains under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, and tenders for various civic works will be placed for approval on Thursday.
Mayor M.Subramanian said that any constructive suggestions, even from Opposition parties, would be considered. He expressed confidence that the meeting would be peaceful.
Over 50 resolutions are proposed to be placed at the meeting.
Leader of the Opposition Saidai P.Ravi said that a resolution to congratulate Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the formation of a new Central government would be placed.
