A total of 24 lakh booth slips would be distributed to voters in the Kancheepuram district.

Ashish Chatterjee, District Collector, paid a visit to the office of Revenue Divisional Officer, Tambaram, on Friday evening and held meetings with officials from different departments. The visit was also to supervise the release of the final electoral rolls of Tambaram, Pallavaram, Alandur and Sholinganallur Assembly constituencies.

“Distribution of booth slips will start soon. All arrangements relating to the elections are in place,” Mr. Chatterjee told The Hindu. He also interacted with G. The first part of the electoral rolls was published in January this year and over the past three months, the officials received forms from residual voters (those with Electors Photo Identity Card) and also from others seeking corrections and deletions.

Among the nearly 60,000 applications, the highest – a little over 20,000 – were from the Sholinganallur constituency. Mr. Chatterjee said that EPIC coverage (voters with ID cards) was nearly complete in the district

Officials said that the second phase of training for booth and polling officers would be held in the next couple of days. With many staff reporting for election duty for the first time, the day long training programme would brief them about ensuring that norms were followed and that rules were not violated. Officials added that the final electoral rolls would be available at municipal offices of Tambaram, Alandur and Pallavaram, Taluk offices at Sholinganallur, Pallavaram and Alandur and also at RDO's office in Tambaram.
