First discount sale in Madurai

MADURAI: The Cooptex showroom on South Chithirai Street is radiant with ivory-coloured saris and dhotis accompanied by fragrance of flowers, indicating Onam celebrations.

“This is the first time that the Cooptex showroom is organising an exhibition-cum-discount sale exclusively for Onam celebrations at the district headquarters,” said P. Isakki, Regional Manager, Cooptex. Last year, it was done in Chennai.

The showroom has displayed a wide range of saris and dhoties with traditional designs.

The highlight of the exhibition is a sari with golden-coloured pallu that is flanked by brown-coloured kolam design, making it more attractive. To reach out to Onam customers, Cooptex had made special arrangements to get exclusive collections of mundu saris from Coimbatore, said Mr. Isakki.

There is a 30 per cent festival rebate on silk saris and 20 per cent on cotton mundus and saris with half-fine zari.

Besides, the showroom displays cotton readymade shirting, churidar sets with thread work and embroidery, silk saris with thread work, cotton silks with embroidery work, attractively designed nighties, printed silk saris and bedspreads.

The week-long exhibition-cum-sale will go on till August 27. P. V. Raghava Varier of Arya Vaidya Nilayam inaugurated the exhibition on Tuesday.
